Piot earns POTY

ESCANABA — James Piot, who has won two college golf tournaments at Sage Run Golf Course, has been named men’s Player of the Year by the Golf Association of Michigan.

Piot, who became the first Michigan native to win the United States Amateur golf championship earlier this year, was medalist of the first Island Resort Intercollegiate at Sage Run in 2019. Two months ago he shared medalist honors with Michigan State University teammate Troy Taylor II at Sage Run. MSU won the team title at Sage Run.

The MSU teammates shot 209 in the two-day event. Piot won the initial Island Resort event with 207.
