NORWAY — It was a hot day on the diamond for the Kingsford and Iron Mountain Little League baseball teams as Kingsford got a 10-9 walk-off win.

Kingsford got on the board first as Cooper Momont drove in a run on a single and another run scored on an error to put Kingsford up 2-0.

Iron Mountain answered in the second inning as Lee Price had an RBI-single and Weston Trevillian scored on a passed ball to tie the game two.

In the bottom of the second inning, Jaco Andes had an RBI-single to score a run and Liam Wodenka grounded out to score another run and Matteo Santoni was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score a run and put Kingsford up 5-2.

In the top of the third inning, Iron Mountain quickly loaded the bases and Hunter Leonoff cleared the bases with a three-run double and was not done there as he cleared the bases again in the fifth inning on another double to put Iron Mountain up 9-5. Leonoff was 3 for 3 with 6RBIs and two doubles.

Kingsford saw the first two batters go down on strikes in the sixth inning, but still rallied scoring five runs including a two-run double by Luca Cory to tie the game at nine.

“The coach told us we had to score runs,” Cora said. “I was thinking I was going to ground out as I was going to the plate but it felt good to get the hit.”

Harvest Ellis showed his speed as he scored on a passed ball to get the win.

I saw the ball get by the catcher,” Ellis said. “My thought was to go home and I made it in.

Kingsford will advance to the state tournament in Tecumseh Mi.
