NEGAUNEE — The Escanaba gymnasts posted their second victory this season in a 118.55-68 conquest of Negaunee here Wednesday night.
“I’m proud of everyone tonight,” said Esky coach Theresa Pascoe. “The girls did great and improved this week overall. We had only three falls this week on (balance) beam compared to our eight last week. I can tell this is going to be a great season.”
Esky’s Caitlyn Davenport led the all-around standings with 31.7 points, winning beam (8.15) and floor exercise (8.0), taking second on uneven bars (7.5) and fourth on vault (8.05).
“I felt very good coming in today,” she said. “I went into everything with positive energy. Our team is improving a lot and it’s only our second meet. I was very proud of my beam routine tonight. I had two falls last week and none this week.”
Teammate Lizzy Sliva was runner-up in all-around (31.1), winning bars (7.7) and vault (8.45), second on beam (7.4) and third on floor (7.55).

Esky’s Bridget Bichler placed third in all-around (28.55), taking third on vault (8.1), beam (7.25), bars (6.2) and fourth on floor (7.0).
“I felt very strong on the floor tonight,” she said. “It was one of my best performances. I was also very happy with my vault score. I’m very proud of our team. We did amazing. This meet had a lot of amazing routines. I think it was a great run for our second meet.”
Negaunee coach Eyre Becker was also very proud of her team’s performance.
“This was also our second meet of the season,” she said. “In both, we competed with Escanaba. Esky has always come in strong, but no matter what happens they are good sports. I have a feeling this will be a winning season for us.”
