Braves’ JVs fall to Flivvers
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone JVs lost more than just a game in the 37-6 Kingsford victory. The Braves lost their freshmen star Nathan Young for the rest of the season. The Braves will now have to pick up the pieces and set up at home game against Menominee next week and Escanaba the week after.
Young, just before the end of the first quarter, threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Brad Sundquist.
The Flivvers’ sophmore running back Cole Myllya — who scored three touchdowns — scored on a 15-yard run that had Kingsford up 23-6 at halftime.
Young did not return to the game in the second half as Kingsford went on to defeat the Braves.
Vinny Howes sparked the Braves on defense with 12 tackles, and Eli Berthaume had seven tackles.
After the game, Young — who has played with hip pain all season– found out he has a avulsion fracture and will have to be on crutches for the next few weeks and will not be able to return this season.
