MANISTIQUE — The Manistique volleyball team earned another victory on its road to the perfect season here Tuesday against Gwinn. The Emeralds finished the match in straight sets (25-12, 25-23, 25-20).

After cruising through the first set, the Emeralds (4-0) had to deal with a kicked up Gwinn offense.

“In our first set we palyed really well,” Emeralds coach Amy Nixon said. “Thinhs really clicked.

“In the second set Gwinn picked up its offense, but I feel like our defense handled it really well.”

Nixon didn’t feel that they did anything wrong in the second set.

“I dont think we did anything worse,” she said. “I think our defense really kept us in the game. They really kept the ball going and gave us the chance to get our offense going too.”

The Emeralds were led in aces by Bayllee Allor with three. Madison Zellar topped digs with 15, and Emma Jones finished first in assists with five. Ella Shooter topped both kills and blocks with six and five respectively.
