Norse lose two games

VERO BEACH, Fla. — The Bay College men struggled tremendously on the baseball diamond here Monday, falling to Hagerstown (Md.) Community College 16-6 and Miami (Fla.) University-Hamilton 25-2.

Bay opened the scoring on Tanner Halvorson’s two-run homer and got its third run on Jared Crow’s single against Hagerstown.

Hagerstown (7-1) got two runs in its half of the first and added five in the fourth for a 7-3 lead.

The Norse (2-3) drew within 7-5 on Halvorson’s RBI triple and Crow’s RBI single in the fifth.

Hagerstown got a run back in its half of the fifth before scoring eight times in the sixth.

Halvorson and Crow finished with two hits and two RBIs apiece.

Logan Bailey pitched four innings and took the loss. He struck out eight, walked one and gave up seven runs on 11 hits. Jackson Bower then allowed nine runs on nine hits and a walk in two innings of relief. Only one of those runs, however, was earned.

In the nightcap, Hamilton (3-3) scored twice in the top of the first before the Norse tied it on Ben Snyder’s two-run single in their half of the first.

Hamilton added four runs in the third, one in the fifth and put it out of reach with eight in the sixth. The Harriers collected 27 hits, including nine for extra bases.

The Norse managed five hits off Caleb Caudill, who struck out four through seven innings.

Carson Shea worked five innings and absorbed the loss for the Norse, who committed four errors and meet ASA College of Miami in a doubleheader today at 1.
