Broncos pull away for win over North Dickinson
FELCH — The Bark River-Harris boys hit their free throws when they mattered most here Tuesday night in a 47-43 basketball triumph over the North Dickinson Nordics.
BR-H hit 7-of-9 gifters at crunch time, enabling it to secure the decision in this Skyline Central Conference match-up.
“We were finally able to pull ahead in the last couple minutes,” said BR-H coach Marc Zawacki. “We shot our free throws decently down the stretch and that was the difference in the game. It was a tight game, but we were able to gut it out. We played a little man-to-man (defense) and did well with that.”
Trenton Wood-Keshick scored 11 points and Riley Bray and Carter Zawacki had 10 apiece for the Broncos (11-8 overall, 9-7 SCC), who led 21-17 at halftime.
Cameron Schultz led the Nordics (4-15 overall, 4-13 league) with 15 points. Justin Slagle added 10.
The Broncos committed 12 turnovers and the Nordics had 16.
“We won the turnover battle, which is also big in a tight game like that,” said coach Zawacki.
BR-H, which also won the JV game, ends its regular season at Superior Central Thursday. The Nordics host Kingsford Thursday.
