Wolves nearly double up on Knights
CARNEY — The Carney-Nadeau girls wasted little time disposing of Norway in a 73-39 basketball triumph over the visiting Knights Tuesday night in a Skyline Central Conference matchup.
The Wolves (4-3, 3-3 SC) led 20-11 at the end of the first quarter and 41-25 at halftime before holding the Knights (0-8, 0-6 SC) to just 14 points in the second half.
“I thought our defensive intensity was exceptional,” C-N coach Ken Linder said. “We really moved the ball. We’re really starting to come together and we’re moving the ball and reversing the ball.”
Sandra Boulton led the Wolves with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Giselle Laurila scored a season-high 16 points and hit four triples. Tessa Wagner added 13 points for the Wolves, who shot 56 percent from the field and committed just 10 turnovers.
“Tessa and Sandra are really starting to find each other in the high post and low post, and they’re making good cuts,” Linder said. “We’re finding our stride a little bit and making some shots. Giselle did a really nice job making some shots tonight, and she got into the lane a little bit and that opened things up for us.”
C-N, which lost the jayvee game 31-29, visits Bark River-Harris Friday.
