The Escanaba Area Junior Hockey Association held its second annual “In the Sticks” Jamboree at the Hannahville Ice & Turf Complex Saturday. The event was designed for young skaters to introduce them to competition while keeping it fun for family — free of charge. This year’s event was even more successful than last year. The EAJHA, with the help of volunteers, parents and donations from local businesses, were able to provide for over 210 skaters coming from nine different hockey associations across the U.P. the opportunity to come showcase their skills in front of a full crowd filled with friends and family. Events like these, combined with the opportunity for skaters to try hockey free for their first year, aligns with EAJHA’s mission to grow the sport in the Escanaba area.
