Lindsley wins Bob Iverson Memorial race

NORWAY — Vulcan’s Dan Lindsley took the lead on lap 14 and kept Jason Wells and company at bay to win the Bob Iverson Memorial on Hall of Fame night at Norway Speedway Friday night. It was Lindsley’s second straight feature win here.

The late model main event saw four different leaders in the contest, including rookie Matt Charlebois who took the lead from the drop of the green from his pole position. Iron Mountain’s Cory Cootware snagged the lead on an early restart and veteran Bruce White lend the top spot for several circuits in the early going.

Lindsley chased down White and passed him on lap 14. Wells broke through traffic and was able to stay within striking distance of the former track champion, but was forced to settle for second at the pay window when the checkers flew.

Defending track champion Dillion Kralovetz took third, followed by Robby Iverson and Brian Stanchina rounding out the top five finishers.

Pembine, Wisconsin’s Anthony Schiefelbein, pulling double duty racing in both the stock and super stock divisions, captured his first Auto Value super stock feature of the season. Trailing Schiefelbein at the checkers were Parker Cain, Adam Faull, Ryan Wender and Andy Gerwig.

In the 141 Auto stock feature, Norway’s Joe Ostermann doubled up in feature wins — capturing both the makeup feature that was rained out a week ago and the regular main event.

Vulcan’s Jake Dolfurd pulled off the same feat, copping both the nightly and makeup features in the MC Signs & Graphics stock four mains.

Escanaba’s Jamie Iverson swept action in the vintage modified division.

Next Friday night will be the Thirsty Whale Bar & Grill Fan Appreciation Night. The speedway will also host the local dirt sportmods in a “Border Battle” between the regulars at Upper Peninsula International Raceway (UPIR) and the Wisconsin competitors who battle weekly at the dirt tracks. Action gets underway at 5:45 p.m. EDT.
