Elmer’s sweeps softball twinbill
GLADSTONE — Elmer’s County Market overcame a slow start to sweep Young’s/Sage Run in a Women’s Slowpitch softball doubleheader here Monday.
After Young’s jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opener, Elmer’s responded with three runs in the third and six more in the fifth en route to a 9-3 triumph.
Taylor Trudeau and Bridget Becker each hit an inside-the-park home run and Lauren Parrett added a double for Elmer’s (13-3).
Kayleigh Hallfrisch doubled twice for Young’s and finished 2 for 3 while Christa Tennant added two hits.
Elmer’s jumped out to a 3-2 lead in the first inning of the nightcap and added 11 more runs to win 14-3.
Becker led the way by going 3 for 4 while Parrett, Amber Quigley and Tasi Martinez all added two hits.
Hallfrisch led Young’s (3-13) with a double.
