EDITOR: I’m a little late on this one. I just now got a chance to get up to speed on the city council meeting last Thursday, Oct. 5. I have worked for about 46 years. I have been an adult employee (over 18) for 46 plus years. 36 of those years have been in management, self-employed, or ownership. Never have I been told by my owner, or superior, that I would have to take a pay cut. I always got a raise every six months to a year and bonuses. Even when I didn’t think that I deserved it. They understood that government is power, and power corrupts, so they tried to limit government power. So, is it sensible to trustfully hand your bit of power to the very government that desperately wants to count it in their favor? Seems counterintuitive to me. City council and old jail site

EDITOR: I may be looking for a new office for my taxi company. So I have been scouting the area to see what is available. Then it dawned on me that I could probably move into the old jail. EDITOR: In June, a Veterans Service Officer from Dickinson County reached out to my office to share the heartbreaking story of a Kingsford veteran named Gerald – “Jerry” – Elliott. Jerry served our country honorably in the U.S. Army, where he rose to the rank of corporal.
