EDITOR: It‘s hard to imagine how someone could ignore US Supreme Court rulings and think they can get away with it hoping no one will notice. Joe Biden is trying again. He promises reducing/eliminating student loan debt. No one should be surprised that Biden has no respect for the legal decisions against him by the Supreme Court decision. According to several polls he is losing the young vote, but if he cancels their debt maybe he can get (buy) them back. Let’s expand debt forgiveness to credit cards, auto loans, mortgages, home loans, etc. What s the difference? I’ve asked this ...

Recall ballots

EDITOR: It seems some people are confused on voting in the May 7th special recall election. They think you pick the name of the person you want recalled. That is wrong. There are two names on the ballot. Fill in the circle next to the person’s name you want to be on the county board in your district. If they discovered they voted wrong they can go to their city or township clerk and get a spoiled ballot, even if they already turned their ballot in. If they are still uncertain they should call their city or township clerk to clarify. Maybe the polling places can post a sign with ...

EDITOR: Senator Ed McBroom, who usually avoids local politics, was critical of the Delta Conservation District this week for “playing political games” as he defends former District CEO Rory Mattson against allegations raised by the Michigan Attorney General’s office. EDITOR: This is in response to the letter of Kaye Rowlands, printed on 3/27. Full disclosure: Kaye did send me a copy prior to printing, and we are acquainted. I was an assessor when Kaye worked in Equalization. Our relationship was pleasant and she provided professional assistance and significant instruction. I respect her courtesy of the letter and her helping me realize my shortcomings in assessing. Regarding her comments on my reaction to the death threats. EDITOR: The Special Recall Election of May 7th is fast approaching. The absentee ballots have been sent out and people are starting to vote. The premise of the recall effort surrounds the fact that the Delta County Board of Commissioners fired the county administrator, at the time, Emily DeSalvo.
