Rational or emotional

EDITOR: Before you vote on the current recall election, ask yourself - am I a Rational voter who is well informed on the issues that surround the recall? Or am I an Emotional voter being pulled along by the drama and personal agenda of some of the crowd attending county board meetings and their social media? Some things to ask yourself before you vote: 1) When did the idea of the recall begin? It began immediately after the election of the current commissioners when Kelli VanGinhoven lost to Commissioner Moyle, one of the commissioners on the recall. 2) Who are the people who are ...

Doubts about Biden

EDITOR: I like most of you have serious doubts about Joe Biden’s fitness to be President. Simply put, he does not the same priorities I do. Nor does he have the best interest of the American people at heart. The man is not capable of holding a press conference, speaking without a teleprompter or finding his way off a stage without help. As President, his first priority on day one was to shutdown the Keystone pipeline project putting forty thousand people including thousands of union brothers and sisters out of high paying jobs. While at the same time reversing Trump’s border ...

Information during emergenies

EDITOR: This past “mild” winter caught us off guard when the heavy-wet snow and winds hit and knocked out power for a large number of people. We were without for a day. When my wife and I worked for the power utility in Lansing we were accustomed to weather-related outages and saw first-hand the intense response of line crews to restore service. Planning and exercises are common to all utilities and help to insure safe repair practices for workers. A simple “Thanks” really does express a lot to those folks. They have ours. The successful deployment of repair personnel is ...

Who deserves your vote?

EDITOR: The definition of bias: “prejudice in favor of or against a thing or a person.” Journalism was born with the premise of “no matter how the facts play out, drive toward truth.” Report only the truth is the mantra once purported by all journalist...until the first news article was written. The same can be said of all radio/television broadcasts. They too fall prey to bias. Every news article written or reported is guilty of bias. Don’t take my word for it. Look for yourself, and you will easily spot the direction the reporter is pushing. Why news organizations would ...

Smell test

My only source of information regarding the Delta County Commission is the Daily Press. I’ve never attended a meeting. Never paid much attention to county politics at all until soon after the last election, when some of the sore losers began their plan B campaign against the three, elected, conservative commissioners. Their machinations didn’t pass my smell test. I’m not the only one in this county with a working nose. It didn’t take me long to recognize some of their tactics because I closely watched similar tactics deployed at the national level, beginning in November 2016. ...

County politics

EDITOR: In 2016 the American people shocked the forces of the Left by electing Donald Trump. The Left had used every accusation they could think of, factual or not, to destroy his reputation but it wasn’t enough. What to do? Find even more issues, factual or not, as an excuse to impeach and remove him from office. Fast forward to Delta County today. Three Republican Delta County commissioners are being accused by the Left of multiple offenses, factual or not, as an excuse to recall them and remove them from office. Does anybody see a Left Wing pattern here? Darrell Deeds Escanaba
