What has defined America?

EDITOR: At one time, I would have called myself a Democratic voter, however, the current party is simply using the name. Their agenda/policies reflect Socialism. The irony is they claim Trump is a threat to democracy. When voting this year, please consider: “we can vote ourselves into a Socialistic government, yet, it is impossible to vote ourselves out of the iron fist we said yes to.” What has defined America? Lives that have been lost defending freedom! A startling 1,302,189 lives have been lost in the name of freedom. Imagine 18-19 year old soldiers, facing continual fear and ...

Presidental race

EDITOR: There is not a company in the U.S. that would consider hiring Trump for an entry-level position let alone as the CEO. But apparently there are millions of people willing too vote for him for President despite his long rap sheet and other disqualifications. Trump is the first President to be charged with 88 felony counts across 4 criminal investigations, and found to be guilty of 34 by jury. Three indictments remain pending: Federal Election Interference; Classified Documents retention; and Georgia Election Interference. A jury of nine people found him guilty of sexual ...

Letter response

EDITOR: The COVID virus ravaged our bodies physically, but a cure/preventative was sought and brought to the public to stem its effects on our community. Now, a “moral” virus has infected us for the past two years and appears to be spreading. Unfortunately, there is no current way to abate the destruction it causes in our midst. The virus was demonstrated as “blisters” in social media as well as the press. It represented itself as threats against elected officials and their families. It sought to move from mind to mind to destroy the character of persons. This was the ...

Misinformation

EDITOR: Just saw the letter from Dana VanEffen about misinformation, and asking people to be informed voters. It was a response to a letter from Charles Smouthers who was upset about forced closures during COVID. Ms. VanEffen then says Trump ordered a national shutdown. This is of course, false. Who is the mis-informed voter here? Trump in early March issued three emergency declarations, none of which included any shutdowns, basically just allowed the government to disburse money to the states. Then there were guidelines listed that were voluntary, these were never requirements or ...

Be an informed voter

EDITOR: I just read Charles S Smouthers 8/8 letter where he spread a lot of misinformation and disinformation. Let’s just examine one of the many points he wrote. “Trump never closed my church, took away my right to assemble with other Americans, told me how many people I could have in my home or required me to keep travel papers in my truck. President Trump never threatened Americans with loss of employment for refusing to get a dangerous drug injected into their bodies.” They say Americans have short memories. That appears to be true. I think people have forgotten it was ...

Vote recommendation

Why is it that every time working people get squeezed with higher utility rates, higher taxes and higher inflation only Republicans seem outspoken against it? Could it be that if you are a Democrat voter you are more likely to work for a government agency and have received a raise, funded by taxpayers in the private sector? If you are a Democrat why would you care if your house taxes or water rates go up? Democrats are the vast majority of the ranks of municipal workers or civil servants that receive their wage increases from these same rate hikes. Could it be that if you are a ...
