EDITOR:

I just read Charles S Smouthers 8/8 letter where he spread a lot of misinformation and disinformation.

Let’s just examine one of the many points he wrote. “Trump never closed my church, took away my right to assemble with other Americans, told me how many people I could have in my home or required me to keep travel papers in my truck. President Trump never threatened Americans with loss of employment for refusing to get a dangerous drug injected into their bodies.”

They say Americans have short memories. That appears to be true. I think people have forgotten it was Mr. Trump who was in office in 2020 during a once on a life pandemic.

On March 16th, 2020 Trump enacted a 15 day national shutdown to “slow the spread.” On March 29th, 2020, he extended that until April 30th, 2020. After those six weeks, he punted it to the governors because he couldn’t handle the pressure.

This was done by a Republican President. Are these the actions that speak louder than words you were referring to Mr Smouthers?

Reminder, Letters to the Editor are people’s opinions. They aren’t necessarily based on facts. This also goes for all the articles posted on the opinion page. This election season is going to be filled with disinformation and misinformation. Please take the time to fact check information. There are plenty of non-partisan sources to use. If it sounds outrageous, it probably isn’t true. Be an informed voter.
