Response to letter

EDITOR:

I mailed this letter to Michael Glass in Nahma and would like you to print it.

I really enjoy reading your letters although sometime your use of the English language, I believe, is above the average Daily Press reader, no doubt to your previous employment. I have previous employment and a lot of history with the Delta County Board of Commissioners. I have seen really good (honest) commissioners and those that are/were not (dishonest). I gauge honesty in my personal interaction with individuals, not her say, or what has been done to someone else, even if they are close to me. I believe in the right to “agree to disagree”, which was taught to me through many union negotiations. Everyone has an opinion and experiences with other individuals which may or may not change minds. A smart person will listen to the opposition to get the full story. That is what is lacking in our civilization. People believe they are right and do not want to listen to others, or someone is expressing what they have read which may or may not be true. In my world I let people into my orbit which I believe can help me be a better person and someone who has good intensions. Those who have lied to me or want “to get even”, or have bad intensions I leave at arm’s length/ I believe in Karma.

This all brings me to what is happening with the County Board of Commissioners. Having lived through decades of employment with the county, I have seen repeatedly where someone is hired and has absolutely no credentials or experience for their job. They were hired because someone knew someone, even when there were other applicants who were more qualified. Or, the person needed a job and “knew” someone. Luckily, quite a few of these employees have turned out to be good employees, but some of them, sometimes by no fault of their own, just were not qualified for the job. These people make it difficult for the rest of the employees. I believe this is the case with quite a few employees hired by the Board of Commissioners and supervisors at the county. I believe the board was trying to give someone the benefit of the doubt, and the board was just too weak or lazy to give the job to the most qualified person. In my opinion these actions have lead us to where we are now specifically with regards to quite a few people being hired who should not have been hired. This is why I believe in the recall. I believe bad decisions are being made.

As for the 3 who are challenging Dave Moyle, Robert Petersen and Robert Barron, who are you to say they didn’t come out strong enough to admonish the death threat? I think you would be sick if you took joy in the action or if you thought it was funny. I agree with your last paragraph, “Consider before you vote, it will affect us all”. Same words, different meaning!
