Don’t put yard waste in Esky recycling carts

ESCANABA — The Department of Public Works is reminding residents that the city pick up yard waste in the spring. Don’t put your yard waste in your recycling cart, as city workers will be unable to pick up a recycling cart containing yard waste or garbage. Recycling cans are for recycling items only.

The Delta County Landfill accepts yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, and brush) in the compost area at the landfill. The yard waste must be brought to the landfill. The city only cleans up leaves and grass clippings in the fall.

Please make sure the cans are 3 feet apart and at least 3 feet from any objects (buildings, vehicles, trees, poles, fences, other cans, and etc.) All recyclables must be in a recycling container, or they will not be able to get picked up. If you need another cart contact Public Works. Recycle cans with garbage/ yard waste in them will not be recycled, food boxes such as pizza boxes are not recyclable.

Place cardboard, paper, plastic, and metal together in your recycling cart or bring them

to the Delta County Landfill.

No glass

All plastics are acceptable.

All cardboard is acceptable.

Recycle items should be clean.
