Seven new COVID-19 cases reported in Upper Peninsula
ESCANABA — Local health officials Thursday reported five new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Menominee County and one more case in Delta County in the past week.
The Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website Thursday also showed one fewer probable case in Delta County since its last update June 25. It listed Delta County at 3,350 confirmed positives, 717 probable cases and 94 deaths. Menominee County has had 1,804 confirmed positives, 333 probable and 40 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.
State data Thursday added seven more confirmed positives in the Upper Peninsula for the day, including one in Menominee County, and a new death attributed to the virus in Baraga County.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website also had two new confirmed positives in both Chippewa and Houghton counties and one each in Dickinson and Mackinac counties.
Using only the state figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Thursday has had 20,096 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 441 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Thursday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 226 confirmed cases and 256 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 323 confirmed, 196 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 354 confirmed cases and 84 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 421 confirmed, 61 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 459 confirmed cases and 257 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 695 confirmed cases, 128 probable and 39 deaths; Iron County, 985 confirmed cases and 69 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,044 confirmed cases and 362 probable, 23 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,096 confirmed cases and 1,418 probable, and 28 deaths, six probable; Menominee County, 1,799 confirmed cases, 331 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,412 confirmed cases and 343 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,536 confirmed cases, 607 probable, 35 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,345 confirmed cases and 712 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,259 confirmed cases, 827 probable and 62 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Thursday had 228 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 894,856. The state Thursday posted 10 new deaths attributed to the virus — including 14 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, which with other adjustments to state data resulted in a net daily count of 10 — to reach 19,758.
