Man charged with killing his brother

GOULD CITY — A Gould City man has been charged with shooting and killing his brother, according to Michigan State Police at the St. Ignace Post.

42-year-old Brian Michael Webb was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in the 92nd District Court of Mackinac County on a single charge of open murder. The victim, 30-year-old Johnathon Palmer, of nearby Engadine, was a brother to Webb.

Troopers from the St. Ignace Post were dispatched to a residence in Gould City Monday for a report of a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, troopers observed several indicators of foul play. Troopers contacted witnesses in the area which led to information regarding a possible homicide. A search warrant was then prepared and executed at the residence.

Further investigation revealed Palmer’s body at the residence. He had been shot. Webb, the homeowner, was also located during this time and taken into custody. Webb is currently lodged at the Mackinac County Jail on the open murder charge.

Troopers were assisted by deputies from the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department, as well as the MSP Forensic Lab, MSP Aviation Unit, and the MSP Emergency Support Team. The investigation is on-going and further information will be released at a later time, police said.
