Escanaba man arrested on meth charge

MANISTIQUE — An Escanaba man was arrested on methamphetamine charges in Manistique on Oct. 19 as the result of an ongoing investigation into illegal narcotics trafficking in the area.

Manistique Public Safety Officers and the Public Safety K-9 Unit arrested John Allen Tilot, age 36, of Escanaba, for a narcotic offense that occurred in the City of Manistique near the St. Francis De Sales Church on Oak Street. He was arraigned and charged in the 93rd District Court of Schoolcraft County on Oct. 21 with one count of Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture – Methamphetamine, a felony punishable by up to 20 years and/or a $25,000 fine. A preliminary hearing was set for Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.

Officers received assistance at the scene of arrest from the Schoolcraft County Sheriffs Department, Sault Tribal Police Department and Michigan State Police. The investigation into illegal narcotics and methamphetamine continues in the City of Manistique and Schoolcraft County and no further details will be released at this time.
