57 tested for coronavirus in Delta County

ESCANABA — Delta County still had only one confirmed case of coronavirus as of Tuesday morning, according to Delta County officials.

Public Health, Delta and Menominee Counties said 57 specimens from Delta County had been submitted for coronavirus testing by 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday. One of these specimens tested positive for COVID-19, 27 tested negative, and test results for the remaining 29 were pending.

A few days earlier, on Sunday, March 29, Public Health, Delta and Menominee Counties had reported on a presumptive positive COVID-19 test result from Delta County. The individual in question was an employee of the Delta County Airport.

As some commercial and private labs are now capable of testing for coronavirus, officials said more Delta County residents may have pending tests than the county was aware of. Any providers using a private lab for coronavirus tests are encouraged to submit information to Public Health.

Test results for specimens from Delta County are being processed continually. Because of this, officials said the numbers could change at any time.
