Stabbing case sent to circuit court
ESCANABA — An Escanaba man charged with assault after an alleged stabbing in Escanaba was bound over to Delta County Circuit Court recently.
Terry Lee Jackson, 53, of Escanaba was bound over on one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation, a 10-year felony with a maximum fine of $5,000.
Although Jackson was bound over on Jan. 30, his file was not received in circuit court until March 2.
Jackson is also being charged as a habitual offender – fourth offense, which would increase his felony charge’s maximum sentence to a life prison term if convicted. He also received a commission of a felony with a motor vehicle advisory, which means a vehicle was used during the crime.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred on Dec. 27, 2019 in Escanaba.
On Dec. 27, at about 9 p.m. a stabbing took place in the 100 block of South 10th Street, according to Escanaba Public Safety.
According to the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office, a Delta County woman received non-life threatening injuries to her limbs during the attack.
She was taken to St. Francis Hospital where she was treated and released.
Escanaba Public Safety officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue South on Jan. 2, where Jackson was arrested in connection with the stabbing.
During his arraignment in district court Jan. 3, Jackson’s bond was set at $75,000 cash or surety. He remains lodged in the Delta County Correctional Facility.
An arraignment and pre-trial hearing in circuit court has yet to be scheduled.
