Activities of the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department from February 23 to February 27:

February 23

9:24 p.m. A deputy initiated a traffic stop for speed on US 41 in Daggett Township. Upon further investigation the driver a, 31-year-old Traverse City man, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and was cited for speed. He was transported to the Menominee County Jail where he was lodged without incident.

February 24

8:32 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to a residence on US 41 in Menominee Township for a report of a hit and run. The caller stated he heard a loud bang last night and now noticed that his garage is damaged. He believes that someone struck his garage while turning around in his driveway.

3:20 p.m. A K-9 deputy assisted a Menominee city officer on a traffic stop on 10th Ave in the City of Menominee which resulted in the location of some drug paraphernalia and the report being sent to the prosecutor’s office for charges.

February 26

2:29 p.m. Deputies along with fire were dispatched to a grass fire on G-08 in Mellen Township. The fire was contained and no injuries were reported in the incident.

February 27

5:30 a.m. A deputy arrested a 52-year-old Kingsford man on a valid warrant in Dickinson County. The warrant was for probation violation on original charges of possession of methamphetamine out of 41 Circuit Court of Menominee. The man was lodged at the Menominee County Jail without incident.

3:02 p.m. Deputies along with fire were dispatched to a grass fire on State Rd V-4 in Faithorn Township. The fire was contained and the no injuries were reported in the incident.
