Bay Sages announces future programs

ESCANABA — The Bay Sages will gather for their regular monthly meeting on Thursday Escanaba, May 2, 10 a.m. at the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay de Noc Community College.

The Bay Sages is an organization established to provide educational opportunities for older adults residing in the Delta County area. Dues are $20 for the year and include monthly newsletters, coffee and rolls at regular meetings and a wide variety of educational opportunities for members. Guests and new members are welcome. Dues are payable at the meeting or can be mailed to the Bay Sages at Bay College.

Our program for May will feature Keith Whitman on “Ford’s North Michigan Operations–Henry Ford’s Playground. This will be part 2, which will feature a Power Point presentation with question/answer session.

Keith has done extensive research on Henry Ford in the UP and has interviewed numerous former employees and their children who were impacted by his work.

Whitman was born in Hancock and raised in L’Anse. He holds a BA and Master’s degree in history and in retirement serves as a US National Luge Team.

Future programs will include: June 7 – Pre-Columbian New World by Ray and Maggie Mililer and birthday luncheon. There is no meeting in July. August 1 will be Kylie Kalishek on Wing Walkers; Sept 5, Troy Gallagher/Cindy Carter Gallagher, Water Treatment Program at Bay College; Oct 3 – Molly Campbell/Ann Bissell on Proposition 2; Nov 7 – Scott Knauf on the Honor Flight; Dec 5 – Tom Brayak on Motor Cycling in India.
