Activities of the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department from February 20 – 23:

February 20

10:10 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a possible vehicle crash on River Dr in Menominee Township. The caller stated there was a vehicle that was smashed up and appeared to have been in a crash at the end of a driveway.

12:22 p.m. A deputy arrested a 38-year-old Skandia man on a valid warrant in Delta County. The warrant was for failure to appear for show cause out of 41st Circuit Court of Menominee. The subject was lodged at the Menominee County Jail without incident.

6:15 p.m. A deputy was advised to contact a subject on CR 354 in Stephenson Township for a report of identity theft. The caller stated he received an email with information that his address had been changed and requests were made to open credit cards in his name. A report was complete to aid in further investigations.

February 21

11:47 a.m. – A deputy was advised to contact a subject in reference to a threats complaint that occurred in Daggett Township. The caller stated someone she knew had received threats about her from a male subject. An investigation was conducted and is ongoing

03:51 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to a fraud complaint on US 2 & 41 in Spalding Township. The caller stated she had received a suspicious call from someone offering to give her money. She refused but they were able to gain access to her personal information and were able to get into her accounts. An investigation was conducted and is ongoing.

3:46 p.m. Deputies were dispatched along with fire to US 2 & 41 in Spalding Township. The caller stated there were some burning barrels on fire and the fire was spreading to surrounding areas. No injuries were reported in the incident.

6:54 p.m. A deputy initiated a traffic stop on US 2 in Spalding Township for a several moving violations. Upon further investigation the driver, a 34-year-old Hermansville man was arrested for a valid warrant out of 95A District Court of Menominee for failure to appear for sentencing on an original charge of driving while license suspended. He was also arrested for driving while license suspended. He was lodged in the Menominee County Jail without incident.

February 22

4:29 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to Spalding Township for a report of a missing juvenile. The subject was located a short time later without incident and was returned home.

7:11 p.m. A deputy initiated a traffic stop on for failure to yield at a stop sign and almost causing a crash on River Rd in the City of Stephenson. Upon further investigation the driver, a 61-year-old Stephenson man was arrested for operating while intoxicated. He was transported to the Menominee County Jail where he was lodged.

February 23

12:13 a,m, A deputy along with fire were dispatched to a vehicle fire on CR 577 in Menominee Township. The caller stated he swerved to miss a deer and entered the ditch and then his vehicle started on fire. Upon further investigation the driver, a 43-year-old Marinette man was arrested for operating while intoxicated. The man was transported to the Menominee County Jail where he was lodged without incident.

3:56 p.m. A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration plates on Shore Drive in the City of Menominee. Upon further investigation the vehicle was found to not have valid registration or insurance. Due to circumstances the driver was not arrested at the time however a report was sent to the prosecutor’s office for warrants for the violations.
