Michael Montgomery-Lee Ward, 25, of Escanaba was sentenced on November 22, 2021, to 12 months in the Delta County Jail following the entry of a plea to assault with a dangerous weapon (punishable by up to 4 years in prison).
On December 21, 2020, officers from Escanaba Department of Public Safety responded to an apartment in the city of Escanaba for a report of a domestic incident. Officers located the female victim in a neighbor’s apartment The victim was bleeding and reported that her boyfriend, Ward, had assaulted her in their apartment earlier. She reported that Ward had held his hands on her throat and had thrown a phone at her head causing a cut.
Andrew Carl Bartke, 38, of Rapid River was sentenced on November 15, 2021 to 12 months in the Delta County Jail following the entry of a guilty plea to possession of methamphetamine (punishable by up to 10 years in prison).
On April 8, 2021, deputies from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, MI were attempting to located Bartke to serve civil paperwork to him. Deputies located a vehicle matched the description of a vehicle Bartke was known to operate, that also did not have a registration plate. Deputies made contact with the driver, who was identified as Bartke. Bartke was subsequently arrested on warrants. During a search of his person, Bartke was found to have a needle in his pocket and he admitted to shooting up methamphetamine. A search of Bartke’s vehicle located a broken pipe that had white residue. A test of that residue showed the positive presence of methamphetamine.
