Crash injures rider

MASONVILLE TOWNSHIP — A man driving an off-road vehicle received serious injuries in a crash Saturday.

At 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, troopers from the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post were dispatched to the Dutch Mill bridge on S.15 Road in Masonville Township for an ORV personal injury crash. Their investigation found that the driver of the ORV took a curve too quickly and crashed into the bridge before being ejected and landing on several rocks. The driver, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, sustained a severe injury to the neck.

Troopers were assisted by Masonville EMS on the scene, and the driver was transported by Rampart EMS to UP Health System — Marquette. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
