YMCA Delta Center launches summer T-ball program
ESCANABA — The YMCA Delta Center is excited to announce its summer 2026 T-ball program, designed for children ages four to six. Running from June 23 through July 23 at Wells Town Hall Field, located at 6436 N. 8th St, this program offers a fun and supportive introduction to baseball for young players in the community.
The YMCA T-ball program focuses on teaching the fundamentals of the game, including hitting off a tee, throwing, catching and running the bases, while emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship and confidence-building. No prior experience is necessary, making it an ideal first step into youth sports.
“This program is all about creating a positive first experience with sports,” said Raquel Schon, Youth, Family & Sports director at the YMCA Delta Center. “We want kids to learn the basics, make friends, and most importantly, have fun while being active.”
The season includes both practices and games to help players build skills and apply what they’ve learned.
Practices will be held Tuesdays from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Games will be held Thursdays at 5:15 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. on July 2, 9, 16 and 23.
Registration is open through June 22 with registration fee costs ranging for YMCA members and non-members. Each participant is required to bring their own glove and water bottle.
The YMCA is also seeking volunteer coaches to help make the season a success. The goal is to form four teams of ten players, each supported by at least two coaches. Approved volunteer coaches will receive a program discount.
“Volunteers are a key part of what makes our programs special,” added Schon. “We encourage parents and community members to get involved and help create a memorable experience for these young athletes.”
Families are encouraged to register early, as space is limited. For more information or to register, visit nlymca.com/delta or stop by the YMCA front desk.
