Escanaba Public Safety (seen here extinguishing a fire in a northern part of the city on May 16) and firefighters from a number of jurisdictions spent Saturday battling brushfires. Residents and visitors are reminded that fire danger is presently very high. The DNR does not do controlled burns on high-risk days, so if smoke or fire is observed, please call 911.
