Utility bill payment options announced

ESCANABA — The City of Escanaba transitioned to new utility billing software and Credit Card Company back in July. The planning and implementation of this software took nearly a year to complete. After many years of customer request, we are happy to announce that Escanaba is offering bill payment via credit card at the utility window. Customers have the opportunity to pay utility bills, taxes, parking tickets, and more, in person or on-line. The payments can be made by credit card, debit card or electronic check (on-line only) via Point & Pay. Point & Pay accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. There is no limit on the payment amount, but please note Point & Pay applies a processing/convenience fee for each transaction. The fee for all cards is 2.8% and electronic checks are $1.50. These fees go directly to Point & Pay, not the City.

Customers still have the option to pay by cash or check at the office. They can also drop their payments in the drop box on the West side of the building or send them via mail. For customers who would like to sign up for automatic payments (ACH) from their savings or checking account at no cost, they can either stop by the utility window or download the form from our website and email to treasurer@escanaba.org . Once the City receives the completed form, staff will manually enter it into the system and payments will be initiated for withdrawal 10 days before the bill is due. Customers will still receive a bill showing the amount due or an email if they signed up for paperless billing.

Visit http://escanaba.org and click on “On-Line Payments” to pay bills or download/complete the ACH form.

If you have questions, please contact the City’s Utility Department by phone at 906-786-0552, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
