Weekend at Marina Park to celebrate community and creativity in August

MENOMINEE — Local families, businesses and community members are invited to gather at Marina Park in downtown Menominee on August 7 and 8 for the first annual M&M Community Block Party — a vibrant, family-friendly weekend celebrating creativity, connection and the future of the M&M Children’s Museum.

As momentum builds toward the planned opening of the M&M Children’s Museum, organizers are hosting two special days designed to bring the community together while showcasing the museum’s mission to inspire creativity, exploration and interactive learning for children and families.

The celebration kicks off on Friday at 12 p.m. with Chalk Fest. This all-age celebration invites participants to transform sidewalks into colorful works of art. Attendees can compete in age groups for prizes or create a selfie background for everyone to use.

In the afternoon, join in the Hula-Hoop-a-Thon – Spin for the Museum, where participants collect pledges and compete to keep their hoops spinning as long as possible.

On Saturday, organizers will kick off the morning with a three on three basketball tournament for ages eight to 18. There will be six courts on First Street ready for action.

At noon, Marina park will be taken over by interactive games and activities for kids along with music, food and other entertainment. Organizers will also share updates on the museum’s development and future programming. The day concludes with a community Dance Party from 4 to 7 p.m.
