Drug arrests made in Manistique

MANISTIQUE – On Aug. 18, 2020, Manistique Public Safety Officers, the Public Safety K-9 Unit, and Schoolcraft County Sheriff Department arrested a of suspect for a narcotic offense which occurred in Mueller Township in Schoolcraft County. This arrest is the result of the ongoing investigation of illegal narcotics trafficking in the area by local law enforcement. The arrested suspect was taken into custody in Mueller Township and was lodged the Schoolcraft County Jail. Pursuant to their investigation, officers arrested Jamie Eugene Kolinske, 39, of Cooks for Controlled Substance -Delivery / Manufacture – Methamphetamine, a Felony, 20 years and /or $25,000 fine. Kolinske was also served with a Habitual Offender – Fourth Offense Notice, which is a sentencing enhancement mechanism for three or more felony or attempts to commit felonies.

Kolinske appeared before the 93rd District Court of Schoolcraft County on Friday, August 21, 2020 for formal charges issued by Schoolcraft County Prosecutor Timothy Noble. Bond was set for Kolinske at $100,000 cash or surety with a Probable Cause Hearing set for Sept. 2 and the preliminary hearing for Kolinske was set for Sept. 9.

Officers received assistance at the scene of arrest from the Sault Tribal Police Department and Michigan State Police. The investigation into illegal narcotics and methamphetamine continues in the City of Manistique and Schoolcraft County and no futher details will be released at this time.
