YMCA Summer Day Camps are scheduled
ESCANABA — The Northern Lights YMCA-Delta Center is preparing for its upcoming summer day camps. The organization will be offering day camp at the YMCA and at Rotary Camp Harstad, which is designed for children with special needs. Both camp programs will begin on June 15 and run through Aug. 14. Camp Harstad will not have camp the week of July 6 – 10. The YMCA Day Camp and Camp Harstad programs run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“We are excited for summer and to be able to offer a meaningful experience for campers,” said Katey Huber, camp director.
There will be new policies in place for the summer day camp programs, but will still have the YMCA camp fun. This summer campers are asked to provide a lunch, water bottle, and swim gear.
“Despite the changes, we have a great group of staff lined up to provide fun day camp experience,” Huber said.
The YMCA Camp Harstad program for children with special needs is located in Ford River south of Escanaba and is funded through a partnership with the Rotary Club of Escanaba.
“This program is a true gem. It is a great opportunity for campers to grow and learn in a natural setting” said Huber. These campers participate in the same core of activities as the other camps have to offer, swimming, nature hikes, games, and arts and crafts,” she said.
