ESCANABA — Bay College has announced the award winners for its first virtual Student Art Exhibition. Each year, Bay College hosts a gallery showing of the current students’ work. This year, the college was unable to hold a reception and award ceremony since the Bay College campus is closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but award winners were still chosen and we are celebrating our art students’ success!

Each semester a “Purchase Prize Award” is given to one student per course. The work chosen becomes part of Bay College’s Art Collection. Students were also awarded second, third and honorable mention awards.

The “Purchase Prize Award” winners are; Digital Photo II- Olivia Capodilupo, Staying Home, Digital Photo I- Jane Karweick, Untitled, Painting I- Leslie Kobasic, Self-Portrait, Visual Structures- Jane Karweick, Personal Mandala.

Additional award winners include: Digital Photography I – second place Jesse Schafer, Untitled, third place Shelby Olsen, Empty, Honorable Mentions – Jamie Rivard, Hailey Gustafson, Oscar Johnson. Digital Photography II – second place Christian Stapert, In the Mirror, third place Nathan Tufnell, Light.

Painting I – second place Jamie Rivard, Untitled, third place Mariah Sullivan, Self-Portrait, and Honorable Mention – Gabriel Gaudino and Olivia Fix.

Visual Structures – second place LaToya Nelson, third place Jesse Schafer, Honorable Mention – Oscar Johnson.
