Traffic stop leads to Manistique drug arrest
MANISTIQUE TOWNSHIP — A 23-year-old McMillan, Mich., man was arraigned on drug charges and a license violation in Schoolcraft County District Court Wednesday.
Richard James Lambert II, 23, of McMillan, was arraigned on the following charges: one count of controlled substance – possession of meth, a 10-year felony with a maximum $15,000 fine; one count of controlled substance – use of meth, a one-year misdemeanor with a maximum $2,000 fine; and one count of motor vehicle – operation without security (no insurance), not more than one-year misdemeanor and a fine in-between $200 to $500.
Manistique Public Safety officers with the department’s K-9 unit arrested Lambert II during a traffic stop on U.S. 2 near River Road in Manistique Township at 8:55 p.m. Monday. Another man was also arrested during the traffic stop.
According to officers, after the initial stop of Lambert II, officers recovered meth and meth paraphernalia.
He was taken into custody and lodged at Schoolcraft County Jail with the other occupant in the vehicle.
The other man, a 37-year-old from McMillan, was arrested for possession of open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and littering.
Lambert II’s bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
The probable cause hearing was set for March 11 at 9 a.m. and the preliminary examination was set for March 18 at 11 a.m.
