Anglim promoted to police chief

GRANDVILLE, Mich. — The Grandville City Council confirmed Deputy Police Chief Paul Anglim’s promotion to police chief in January. Anglim, the son of Marilyn and the late SSGT Adrian Anglim, was born and raised in Gladstone. He began his law enforcement career with the Gladstone Department of Public Safety in 1983. He also served 27 years with the Wyoming Police Department before being hired as Grandville’s deputy chief in 2012.

His experience includes stints as police officer, sergeant and lieutenant with highly responsible supervisory duties and special assignments in training, tactical arrests, community policing, quartermaster, traffic, incident management, officer safety, operations, logistics and honor guard.

“This combined education, experience and training make Deputy Chief Anglim extremely well qualified for the promotion. He further enjoys the respect of current Grandville Police Department personnel and of his peers throughout the law enforcement community in West Michigan,” city officials said in a press release. Outgoing Chief Dan Steere strongly recommended Anglim for the promotion, citing his outstanding performance evaluations and achievements at Grandville PD and his belief Anglim will make an exceptional police chief.

City Manager Ken Krombeen adds “From my perspective, Deputy Chief Anglim has been well prepared to step into the chief’s role. He has consistently demonstrated mastery of the elements critical to an executive post in police administration and has the right temperament to deal with all internal and external requirements of the position.”

Mayor Steve Maas concluded “Paul has a positive approach and a noteworthy commitment to serve others.”
