Chard benefit Saturday
ROCK — A benefit will be held at Herbs Bar in Rock on May 21 from noon to 8 p.m. for Rooney Chard. Rooney is the daughter of Amy (Clausen) and March Chard and was born with Beckwith-Weidemann Syndrome, a genetic disorder that increases the risks of childhood cancers, bladder and kidney disease, and other complications. She is currently receiving care from the University of Michigan Motts Children’s Hospital.
The kid-friendly event will feature bucket and ticket raffles, door prizes, kids games, food, drinks, and dancing. Live music will be provided by Cory and Chasey Williams from 4 to 7 p.m. Cookout-style food will be available for purchase by the plate. The ticket raffle will close at 8 p.m., with the drawing to follow, but participants need not be present to win.
Donations can also be made directly at Herbs Bar, 14360 M-35 Rock (906-356-6126). All proceeds will go to offset Rooney’s medical care.
