Lenten Soup and Speaker series returns
GLADSTONE — On Tuesdays in March, Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 1920 Lake Shore D. in Gladstone, is hosting its annual Lenten Soup and Speaker series.
A light soup supper begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by a speaker of community interest from 6 to 7 p.m.
On March 3, Samantha Frizzell will speak on the Delta County Families Against Narcotics organization. March 10, Judge Steve Parks will report on the success of the Drug Court. March 17, Dave Lewis, a self-proclaimed car geek, will tell of his adventures with the fully electric car that he built and drove for 12 years. March 24, Della Juliano from UPCAP will do a presentation on brain health. March 31, Tracy Jensen and Jessi Nelson, members of the Webster School Trauma Team, will explain how adults in the school community are prepared to recognize and respond to those who have been impacted by traumatic stress in a trauma-informed school. The public is invited, and there will be a free-will donation for the soup supper.
Gladstone senior craft and bake sale event
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Senior Citizens Nonprofit Corporation, along with the Gladstone Senior Center, will hold a spring craft sale on Saturday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the center, located at 303 N. 8th St., Gladstone. There will also be a bake sale, concessions, and door prizes.
Crafters may reserve a table by calling Lisa at 428-2201 or Marilyn at 420-5041. There is an admission fee at the door. Proceeds go to funding the corporation and the MDS-CAA Gladstone Senior Center.
Dance in Rock March 8
ROCK — The next dance in Rock will be held Sunday, March 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Rock Senior Center, 3892 W. Maple Ridge Rd. Music will be provided by Country Express.
There is a cost to attend the dance and a free-will donation lunch will be provided.

Class of ’73 luncheons
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone High School class of 1973 will start having informal, fun lunches the second Monday of each month beginning March 9. The lunches will be at the Family Inn in Wells at 1 p.m. All members of the class of ’73, their spouses and friends are invited.
For those who can’t make the March 9 luncheon, the next gathering will be April 13.
Seventh Day Adventist food pantry sets hours
ESCANABA — The Community Service Center food pantry adjacent to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Escanaba is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday and Saturday.
Free fall prevention series starts March 10
GLADSTONE — Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. “A Matter of Balance for Fall Prevention,” hosted by Michigan State University Extension, is a free program teaching practical ways to manage falls.
Attendees will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercise to increase strength and balance.
Anyone who is concerned about falling, has fallen in the past, who has restricted activities because of falling concern or is interested in increasing balance, flexibility and strength is welcome to attend.
The eight-week program starts Tuesday, March 10 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Gladstone Senior Center, 303 N 8th St., Gladstone.
The program is free to attend, but registration is required. Call Carlee at 906-315-2664 to register.
Space is limited, and attendees are asked to be prepared to attend all eight sessions.
Taco Tuesday returns
GLADSTONE — Taco Tuesday is back at the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Serving is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. The events are held at Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71, 802 Delta Ave., in Gladstone.
