Breakfast at the Legion

GLADSTONE — The American Legion in Gladstone will be serving breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 16. Serving from 9 a.m. until noon. The public is welcome.

Free line dancing class

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Senior Center offers free line dancing classes each Friday morning. Beginners meet at 9 a.m., and the regular class is held from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Lenten breakfast event returns Feb. 22 in Esky

ESCANABA — The Annual Lenten Breakfast and Musical Program at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 600 South Lincoln Road in Escanaba, will be held Saturday, Feb. 22. Breakfast will be served at 9:15 a.m. with the program starting at 10 a.m.

The theme is “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” In addition to soloists, the Rock-Perkins Area Cantata Choir will be participating this year.

The speaker will be Reverend Dennis Meyette.

Seating for the breakfast is limited to 200, but program seating is unlimited. Call for your breakfast reservation by Feb. 19 to 786-6771 or 233-1857.

Nursery care will be provided upon request.

A free-will donation for the breakfast and musical program will be received at the program. The ILCW will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Welcome Newborn Program at OSF S.t Francis Hospital.

Taco Tuesday returns

GLADSTONE — Taco Tuesday is back at the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Serving is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. The events are held at Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71, 802 Delta Ave., in Gladstone.

Live music at Amvets

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 in Escanaba is hosting the classic country music band “Old Friends,” Friday, Feb. 14 from 7 to 11 p.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 15, a Valentine’s dance will be held featuring “The Grand Design Band.” The first 30 ladies will receive a chocolate rose at the door. Door prizes will be awarded every hour, 50/50s will be held, and there will be meat tray raffles.

The Grand Design Band plays classic rock, country and a variety of music. This event runs from 8 p.m. to midnight. There is a fee at the door.

AAUW to hold Book Night event Feb. 20

ESCANABA — The American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold “Book Night” on Feb. 20 at the home of Carol Bergquist, located at 1221 5th Ave. S. in Escanaba. Members and guests are invited to bring a favorite book to share.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a soup supper. Snacks and desserts will be welcomed.

AAUW is open to men and women holding an associate’s degree or higher. Formed in 1881, the organization is globally recognized for its advancement of equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. For more information on AAUW, call 474-6545.

Legion steak dinner

GLADSTONE — The American Legion in Gladstone will be having a steak dinner on Thursday, Feb. 27. Serving is from 4:30 until 7 p.m. The public is welcome.

Sing Off event set

NAHMA — Due to the inclement weather on Jan. 18, the 4th Annual U.P. Sing Off will be held at the Nahma Inn Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7 pm.

Singers must be at least 18 years old and have their own karaoke CD. Singer registration is payable at 6:30 p.m. that evening. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded. Call Mary at 906-474-6109 or 906-420-0610.

Mystery box and basket drawings will also take place during the event.

The Sing Off is sponsored by the Isabella Community Hall committee for ongoing restoration projects.
