Horse show set for July 20-21 in Escanaba

ESCANABA — The UPHA Open Horse Show will take place July 20 and 21 at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba.

Pleasure classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will be followed by speed events, which will not start before 2 p.m.

For stall reservations, call Karen Hendrickson at 906-346-6139. Shavings will be available.

St. Anthony calendar ­raffle winners named

ESCANABA — St. Anthony Calendar Raffle winners for June are: St. Anthony’s Church, $75; St. Anthony’s Church, $60; and Frank and Jean Berres, $50. Linda Lamarche, Katherine Thompson-Vanders, Jennifer Young and Jenny Vandeville each won $25. Dan Caron won $50 for Feast Day.

‘Under The Radar’ stars coming to Escanaba

ESCANABA — On July 31 at 6:30 p.m., Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman of PBS Television’s “Under the Radar Michigan” will be at in the Escanaba City Hall City Council Chambers discuss their show and share stories about their adventures.

A book signing will take place immediately following the presentation copies of both “Under The Radar Michigan: The First 50” and “Under The Radar Michigan: The Next 50.”

Steak dinner at Legion

GLADSTONE — The American Legion in Gladstone is serving a steak dinner on Thursday, June 27 from 4:30 until 7 p.m. The public is welcome.

Pulled pork sandwich sale for Esky hockey

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eskymo Varsity Hockey Team will be holding their annual pulled pork sandwich sale Friday, June 28 from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. at Elmer’s County Market.

For take-out orders, call or text 399-5924. Delivery from Eskymo hockey players is free.

All proceeds benefit the Escanaba Varsity Hockey Team. The Escanaba Eskymo Varsity Hockey Team is completely self-funded.

Bay de Noc Lions ­community service club

WELLS — The Bay de Noc Lions “Community Service” Club and future E-Club welcomes everyone interested in their group to join other volunteers on Thursday, June 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Wells Township Hall in Wells.

Guests are asked to bring ideas for community service projects and should expect to experience personal growth and witness the impact they will have helping others.

ESCANABA — Escanaba’s graduating class of 1949 is having a casual reunion get-together at the Stonehouse Friday, June 28 at noon.

Purple Heart 1976 meeting on June 27

ESCANABA — The Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Chapter 1976 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at the clubhouse building, 1202 Sheridan Road.

The MOPH is for all military veterans who sustained combat wounds during their service to the country. For details, contact Dennis Grall at 789-9005.

ESCANABA — Bay De Noc Toastmasters develops communication and leadership skills every Wednesday, except the last Wednesday of the month, at noon in the Penstar Building, located at 1431 N. 26th St. in Escanaba.
