EDITOR: My car insurance needed to be renewed. In Michigan, you can’t just renew what you had last year. You have to physically sign documents. My premiums were paid a month ago. I wasn’t getting renewal documents. I called and they said that a signature and date was required. So, I signed and dated the forms. Even though my intent was known since I already paid, until they had a signed and dated copy, I didn’t get insurance. Youth Assistance Program fills gaps for those in need
EDITOR: As we approach this holiday season, I am filled with gratitude for the generous and compassionate community of which I am a part – even through the pandemic and financial insecurities. I am reminded that while we traditionally focus on thanks and giving this time of year, one of the most important things we can do is extend the spirit of thanksgiving throughout the year. Abortion coverage
EDITOR: It is biased and faulty reporting to regularly put pro abortion news and pictures in the Daily Press on the front page, e. g. August 23, 2022, September 22, 2022, and October 1-2nd, 2022 while not reporting and posting the conflicting alternative news of pro life. One of the articles stated that groups on both sides of this debate are interested in the elections in November, but the Daily Press reported and showed pictures on the front page of only the abortion rights side of the debate, no verbiage for pro life rights. Vote privacy
EDITOR: The privacy of a voting booth may be our only privacy not yet violated. The right to cast a vote for a person you wish to represent you, or policies that effect you is one of our most cherished. When you vote in these mid term elections remember, you are not required to tell anyone how you voted. I’ve been in situations where people ask for whom I’ve voted. It is, of course, none of their business. People may feel pressured to divulge their choices or feel coerced to vote a specific way. Remember, this is “your” right and it is to be done in private.
