Veteran millage

EDITOR: This letter is to call your attention to the Delta County Veteran’s Affairs mileage proposal. The County Veteran’s Affairs Office currently has just one certified Veteran’s Service Officer (VSO). From my personal experience, I can say that he has done a great job under difficult circumstances. There are a large number of veterans in Delta County, many of whom are eligible for service through the VA. Veterans program needs our help

EDITOR: This letter is to draw your attention to an important millage election to benefit those brave men and women of the military who served our country. We have a fantastic Veterans Program that needs our help. The millage request is for 0.10 mills (equal to $0.10 per $1000.00 taxable value of all such property) for a period of 5 years. The money will be used to fund, equip, staff maintain and operate the County Department of Veterans Affairs in order to provide relief, support and assistance to all qualified veterans, their eligible spouses and families. EDITOR: I am deeply disappointed by the recent negative advertisements from Jen Hill’s campaign targeting Karl Bohnak. These ads are not only filled with juvenile and misleading attacks, but they also reflect poorly on the kind of leadership Hill represents. Rather than offering concrete ideas or a positive vision for the Upper Peninsula’s future, she has chosen to resort to schoolyard tactics and falsehoods in an attempt to discredit her opponent. EDITOR: With the general election being just over a month away I encourage voters to get informed on the candidates and how they will represent us for the next four years. You need to know you can cross over political parties on the ballot voting for the person over party. In the Delta County Commissioners race for the City of Escanaba, District 4, Mr. Moyle’s name still appears on the ballot on the Republican side even though he withdrew from the race.
