ORV trail section to close temporarily in Keweenaw County

KEWEENAW COUNTY — Logging operations on private property along a section of the state-managed off-road-vehicle B Trail in Keweenaw County will force temporary closure of the route beginning June 1.

“The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will be closing the B Trail between Phoenix Farms Road and Gratiot Lake Road from June 1 to July 15,” said Jeff Kakuk, DNR western Upper Peninsula trails specialist. “The landowner will be conducting logging activities that directly impact the trail, and recreational use would not be safe.”

A reroute was not possible.

“Users are reminded this trail is on private lands. Please avoid trail use during this period,” Kakuk said. “Once logging operations are completed, the trail will once again open for recreational use.”
