Cougars fall to Nordics in conference action

EBEN JUNCTION — The Superior Central girls tried their best to control the pace in a non-conference basketball game here Monday night. It was the Felch North Dickinson Nordics who picked it up in the second half, however, as they handed the Cougars a 42-19 loss. The shorthanded Cougars, with just six available players, elected to run a delay offense which helped keep them in the game into the third quarter. ESCANABA — The Escanaba boys got a much needed win here Saturday, topping the Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils 59-48 in a non-conference basketball match-up on Parents’ Day. Esky, which had dropped six straight games, improved to 4-9. Sault dropped to 2-9. “That’s a nice win,” Esky coach Jake Berlinski said. “That’s really a confidence and morale boost.
