HARRIS — Two Bark River-Harris students put the pen to paper as they signed their letters of intent to Bay College here Monday. Dakota Bridges and Kaiya Davis will both play volleyball and Davis will also run cross-country.
Both Davis and Bridges are entering into the nursing field.
“I really enjoy helping people,” Bridges said. “I want a job where I can make a difference in someone’s life and provide help and support.”
Davis has always had her sights set on this career path.
“This is what I have always wanted to do,” Davis said. “Be there for people when they need help and provide care for people and help them to get better.”
These girls are just as good off the floor as they are on the floor,” Broncos volleyball coach Brooke Bartley said. “They both have an awesome drive they never give up and they are going to be good at the next level and i;m super proud of them.”
Davis also will run cross-country and has the opportunity to be one of the best runners.
“Based on her limited practices and her high school performances she has a very high ceiling,” Bay College cross-country coach Scott Carhoun said. If she adapts really well to our training program like I think she will she could end up being one of our top runners.”
Both Davis and Bridges like the fact of being able to stay close to home and to Bay College volleyball coach Dan Porath the local flair helps keep the community engaged in the sports.
“It keeps people coming in the gym on a nightly basis,” Porath said. “We try to keep a local flare while staying competitive on night in and night out basis.”
