MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Escanaba graduate Colin Hudson scored a career-high 22 points, leading the Bay College men to a 96-86 basketball triumph over Mid Michigan College Saturday.

The victory enabled to Norse to take sole possession of first place in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s North Division.

Bay, which has won eight straight, improved to 17-4 overall and 7-0 in the league.

Lamar Grayson added 19 points and three assists. Jacquez Overstreet collected 14 points and three assists. Genesis Kemp hit 13 points and Justin Nelson tallied 11.

Javel Lewis, Jr. paced Mid Michigan with 32 points and 12 rebounds. Delon McCloud tossed in 20 points to go with four assists. Jayden Sims scored 17 points and Satchel Love had 11.

Hudson hit 8-of-12 field goals and Grayson drained 7-of-8 free throws.

The Norse were outrebounded 36-30, hit 35-of-63 field goals and committed nine turnovers. The Lakers were 36-of-74 from the field and had nine miscues.

It was another tough afternoon for the shorthanded Bay women as the fell to the Lakers 87-42.

Alyssa Cretton recorded 21 points and three steals for the Norse (6-15 overall, 2-5 league), who had just seven available players. Tianna Taylor added 10 points and seven boards.

Jade Kauffman hit nine 3-point shots and scored 29 points in a reserve role for Mid Michigan. Olyvia Nederhood tallied 15 points. Bailey Vissman hit 13 and Terre’ya Moore finished with 10.

The Lakers held a 45-27 rebounding advantage, sank 36-of-75 field goals and committed 11 turnovers. The Norse were 15-of-48 from the floor and had 21 miscues.

Bay’s women play tonight at 5:30 at North Central Michigan College, followed by the men’s contest at 7:30.
