C-N falls to North Dickinson

CARNEY — The Carney-Nadeau Wolves sputtered on offense in a 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-21) volleyball loss to the North Dickinson Nordics here Thursday night.

“It was fairly close,” said Wolves’ coach Steve Kedsch. “I thought we were a little flat-footed. We just couldn’t get it going. North Dickinson was serving well, and we were struggling with serve receives. We did a lot of good things. We weren’t consistent on offense, but did a good job on defense.”

Mariska Laurila collected three service aces, eight kills and 15 digs for the Wolves. Melodie Lenca contributed seven kills and 12 digs. Hailey DeGrave hit five aces to go with four kills and five digs, and Samantha Kedsch tallied three aces, 22 assists and 18 digs.

“Samantha did a good job spreading the ball around, and we had some nice hits,” said coach Kedsch.

The Wolves, who also dropped the JV match (22-25, 25-13, 15-11) are entered in today’s “Rock” Invitational at Gladstone. The Nordics visit North Central Thursday.
