Eskymo softball picks up two wins in Mauston Wis.

MAUSTON — The Escanaba softball team took to the road this past weekend in Mauston Wis. The Eskymos played three games over the weekend earning wins in two of the three matchups.
In the first game, the Eskymos lost 6-3 to Merrill despite out-hitting them. Senior Chloe Dubord led the team with two hits Harlee Coolman gave the Eskymos the early lead but Merrill quickly took the lead back in the second inning as Maddie Barker tripled down the left field line and Kendell Klug flew out each producing a run and putting Merrill in front 2-1.
Mary-Kate Tourangeau had an inside the park home run to tie the game at three but Merrill answered with three runs in the sixth inning to preserve the win.
The Eskymos came back for a pair of Saturday games as they defeated Clintonville 6-3 and Campbellsport 3-2.
Landry Bray doubled in the first inning to score a run and Tourangeau to score one with another run scoring on a passed ball to put the Eskymos up 3-0.
Clintonville responded, scoring three runs in the top of the third inning to tie the game.
The Eskymos added three runs to get the win as Coolman singled to score a run and Addison Noblet flew into a double play but also had a run score.
Cam Buckley earned the win for the Eskymos allowing three runs on four hits.
“We enjoy the competitiveness of this tournament,” Eskymos coach Andy Fields said. “We know these games are tough and its nice to finally get outdoors and see some live game action.”
The Eskymos used a nice pitching performance from Landry Bray and timely hitting as the Eskymos defeated Campbellsport. Bray allowed one run on two hits in 4 and â…” innings of work striking out three and walking three.
