MAUSTON — The Gladstone Braves made their debut in Mauston, Wis. this past weekend playing three games and winning one.

In their first game the Braves were defeated 21-0 by the Kewanee Storm who racked up 15 hits in the contest and committed zero errors.

Brett Paulsen was 5 for 5 at the plate with a double and four RBIs. Noah Hudson earned the victory for the Storm allowing zero runs on one hit with four strikeouts and four walks.

The Braves only hit in the game came from Xavier Leipzig in the bottom of the second inning. Cooper Sanville took the loss allowing nine runs on five hits with two strikeouts and six walks.

The Braves took on Stratford in their second game and fell 8-1. The Braves were shutout til the seventh inning when Aiden Burie delivered a monster hit for an RBI-double. Nick Proehl started on the mound for the Braves allowing five runs on five hits in four innings of work.

“We are moving in the right direction, Braves coach Tyler Swanson said. “We have a lot of guys on this team with no varsity experience so there is going to be a transitional period.”

The Braves found their way into the win column Saturday morning but needed extra innings to do it as they defeated the Cameron Comets 12-6. The Braves put up three runs in the first inning as Cooper Sanville, Braylon Carter and Xavier Leipzig all had run producing hits.

The Comets cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth inning on a walk and a couple bad throws.

The Braves extended their lead to 6-2 on a two-run double by Robinson who was 3 for 5 in the game with two RBIs.

“I felt amazing out there,” Robinson said. “I was just trying to get the bat on the ball and I didn;t even feel the pitch to be honest just made contact and it flew.”

The Comets tied the game in the bottom of the seventh but ran out of pitching as the Braves erupted for six runs in the top of the eighth inning to earn the win.

“We are checking things off the list that we want to accomplish,” Swanson said. “This is what we have to continue to do is make these improvements every time out and just continuing to grow and learn as a team.”
