Wolves hold on against BR-H
CARNEY — The Carney-Nadeau girls basketball took advantage of a slow Bark River-Harris start here Thursday to prevent the Broncos’ revenge and take a 52-43 win.
The Wolves (14-1) jumped ahead in the first half, outscoring the Broncos 31-16.
“We dug ourselves a hole,” BR-H coach Matt Richer said. “We really struggled defending Tessa Wagner in the first half. We tried different things, but it seemed, in that first quarter, nothing we were doing went right. We were just a step behind, and they took advantage of it. Give them credit.”
Despite a 12 and 13-point third and fourth for Bark River (10-6), Carney hung on to the win.
Tessa Wagner and Shae Linder led the Wolves with 16 points apiece.
The Broncos were led by Cara Zawacki and Mckenzie Hoffmeyer with 12. Aspen Fredrick chipped in 10.
Bark River hosts Gwinn today, and Carney visits Brimley.
